Out of a mobile truck next to the Petawawa Civic Centre baseball diamonds, Connor and Kristina McGuire and their staff are now serving up fresh, handcrafted doughnuts.

McGuire’s Doughnuts is one of the newest additions to Petawawa’s business landscape with the opening of this extension to their Pembroke brick-and-mortar location.

“The wonderful people of Petawawa kept asking us to,” said co-owner Kristina. “They were incredibly welcoming.”

The location is ideal as it is central and during the summer, once COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, it is a busy hub for athletes and spectators alike.

There is no difference between the offerings at both locations.

“We are keeping the menus exactly the same,” said Kristina, adding that each doughnut is made fresh and with love.

“We really have a lot of fun coming up with different recipes and toppings and things like that,” she said.

The original location has been open for two years, and a few days after that anniversary, the doors opened on the mobile restaurant.

The food truck is part of Petawawa’s street food vendor program which has seen great success.

Mayor Bob Sweet, council and members of the Petawawa Business Advisory Network (PBAN) welcomed the McGuires at a meet and greet on Dec. 18.

At our house, a box of McGuire’s Doughnuts last exactly two days as we are showing great restraint,” said Councillor Theresa Sabourin. “They are absolutely fantastic.”

They are currently open Wednesday to Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. or until everything sells, which happens regularly.
