This weekend on Saturday, April 9 we lower the Canadian flag to half mast in Honour of Vimy Ridge Day. The soldiers who fought in that battle are said to have brought Canada to nationhood. The victory during that battle emerged us from under Great Britain and showed the world the fortitude and tenacity of Canadians.

On Sunday, April 17 we are holding a Spaghetti supper from 4:30-6 p.m. with salad, garlic bread and dessert. Prices reduced for kids. As a little treat we are holding a Downhomers night on Saturday, April 23. We will be having drink specials paired with seafood chowder for you to enjoy when you get hungry from dancing the evening away to James Dent from 8:30 p.m.-12:30 a.m. You can still come out for our Thursday soup and sandwich from 11:30-1 p.m. then Friday for fish, wings, chicken strips, fries or onion rings from 5-6:30 p.m.

All the functions are open to the public so grab your friends and family and join us. Our lobsterfest tickets will soon go on sale but before that, we are giving you a chance to win your tickets. A package has been put together that includes two surf and turf tickets (lobster and steak) a bucket of mussels for two, front of the line privileges and a wonderful handmade pillow cover and throw. Tickets will be available at functions and the bar.

Draw date is April 29. Great bargain for the winner. On April 30 we are holding a yard sale at the branch. If you are doing spring cleaning and have some items that you no longer want, we will gladly take them. Help us raise some badly needed funds. Items can be dropped off mornings before 11:30 any day except Tuesday. Join us on the web at www.petawawalegion.ca or on facebook at Petawawa Royal Canadian Legion Br 517.
