PEMBROKE - Paddlers no longer have to wait to sign up for the fourth annual Upper Ottawa River Race and Paddle Festival as 2018 registration is now open.

Running Aug. 10-12, the festival is a collaboration between the City of Pembroke and Town of Petawawa and features an array of paddle-based events as well as healthy lifestyle activities throughout the weekend occurring at both Petawawa Point and Riverside Park.

Attendees will enjoy event staples such as the Upper Ottawa River Races, Paddle for CHEO, the Heritage Paddle, Reel, Kayaks and Real Heroes, and the kayak fishing derby.

The events are great for kayaks, stand up paddleboards, canoes and outrigger. Registration is available online at www.upperottawariverrace.ca.

“We’re very excited to continue this collaborative effort and bring paddlers to our area,” said Town of Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet. “This year is sure to be another great one with fan favourite events and new elements for people to enjoy.”

Another highlight for 2018 is Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) returning as the festival’s title sponsor, providing both financial and in-kind support. Without sponsors the festival would not be possible, and the committee greatly appreciates CNL’s continued support.

Early bird registration rates are in effect until July 1. To stay up to date with this year’s event, be sure to follow Upper Ottawa River Race on Instagram and Facebook. Full event details are available on the event website as well at www.upperottawariverrace.ca.
