The Petawawa Presbyterian Church Women’s Group made a donation of $200 to The War Amps Child Amputee (CHAMP) Program, which helps children under 18 who were either born missing a limb or lost a limb due to an accident or medical causes. CHAMP provides financial assistance for standard artificial limbs, as well as 100 per cent of the cost for recreational limbs and devices, such as those designed for swimming, biking or playing a musical instrument. Accepting the donation on behalf of CHAMP is Pembroke’s Megan Mantha, who was born without her left hand and as a CHAMP, she and her family have received ongoing support from The War Amps through financial assistance, regional seminars and peer support. The family is also part of the Petawawa Presbyterian Church congregation.
