The Petawawa Falcons girls under 11 developmental team finished their inaugural season with an exciting soccer weekend in Ottawa. On August 12, they travelled to TD Place to watch an Ottawa Fury game where the girls were invited to escort the Ottawa and Charlotte players onto the field and observe the warm-up from the sideline. Watching the skill of these professional players was an inspiration to the team and provided many learning opportunities for the following day’s tournament.

On the 13th, they travelled to the ‘Hornets Nest’ where they participated in the Gloucester International Soccer Tournament.  They had a very successful day winning games against the West Ottawa Soccer Black Gunners and the Gloucester Hornets.

The team was initially formed in May from a variety of gifted U11, U10 and U9 players with the goal to further develop their soccer skills through regular exposure to other talented players and competitive teams.  Selected players participated in additional training sessions, exhibition games and tournaments beyond the normal house league schedule. For their first tournament in June the team traveled to Kingston for four games, and in July they were in Beckwith for three. Over the season the players demonstrated remarkable progression in individual skills as well as team based tactical play. The program will be running again in the Spring of 2018 for girls born in 2006 and after.
