It is really hard to believe that we are starting August already. That means September and Fish and Chip Fridays are just around the corner. In order to keep this going we require people to commit to volunteer one Friday a month. We want to set up four teams and require on each team a cook to work the deep fryer (we will train), someone to put food on the plates, two people to take plates into the hall and call numbers, and one person for dishes. We train everyone to do their jobs. Students can earn their volunteer hours. Without volunteers we will not be able to hold this every Friday. If you would like to join a team or set one up, call Helene at 613-687-6783. Leave a message or your name at the bar. You may also email petawawalegion@nrtco.net.

This Friday’s BBQ will be in the lounge and will have pork chops, hamburgers and foot long hot dogs served from 4:30-6 p.m. Everyone is welcome so bring the family.

On August 6 and 9, 1945, nuclear weapons were dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki respectively. While shortening the war, it proved horrific in the casualties it caused and the radiation sickness that followed. One can hope it is never used again.

If you need someplace to hold your function, large or small, give us a call at 613-687-2504 or use the email above. You can book the lounge for free - that includes the patio and use of BBQs (for a small donation to propane) or rent the upstairs hall for a private area and you can take advantage of catering on-site by the Ladies Auxiliary.
