Catch the Ace has arrived!! Starting Friday, September 1 you can purchase your tickets at the bar during regular hours for your chance to pick the ace of spades. The first draw will be Friday, September 8 at 6 p.m. in the upstairs hall. You can come for fish and chips then stay for the draw and see if your ticket is lucky!! Everyone is welcome to play, not just Legion members.

On September 14 we will have a group departing from the branch on the 4th annual Ruck to Remember event for The Road to Recovery. They are walking over four days from Petawawa to Kanata to raise funds for the Legions’ program “Leave The Streets Behind”. This program finds and helps veterans get off the streets and into affordable housing with help in counselling, medical or whatever else they need. We will be collecting funds at the branch to go to this. All donations are tax deductible and receipts will be issued from Command if a name and address is provided. Any cheques can be made to Operation Leave the Streets Behind. They will be stepping off at 9 a.m. on September 14 from the branch and arriving in Kanata on the 17th.

On Sunday, September 17 during our General Meeting at 3 p.m., our Honours and Awards Chairman wishes to have anyone who is entitled to a pin for years of service to attend. At this time, presentations will be made so please plan to attend. We always like to present awards in front of the membership to properly recognize you.

There is no BBQ this week as we are taking a break but Fish and Chips will start on Friday, September 8. We will once again be serving fish, wings, chicken strips, fries and onion rings. You can do full or half orders and we do take out. Everyone is welcome so bring the family.
