Valour/Rona collaborate on Art Project

Over the course of six weeks, eight students from Mrs. Neville’s senior visual arts class from Valour have been helping to create paintings to add some art to the Town of Petawaw.

In collaboration with Rona at the Petawawa Market Mall, students have primed, painted and sealed cement pillars and light standards with their own designs to create a lasting legacy of their art work.

“This was a great way to earn volunteer hours, doing what I love - creating art!” said Danica Faubert, a student who will be leaving Petawawa this summer on a posting.

Yanna Moncion-Bilton, owner of Rona, contacted Jennifer Neville about doing something to beautify the numerous grey cement pillars that line the Market Mall. Rona supplied all materials that students needed.

Students who ‘painted a pillar’ included Melanie Gaucher, Cassidy Deen, Jordan Blair, Sarah Winters, Amber Toye, Danica Faubert, Erin Stacey, Tuesdae Slobodian-Doyle and helper Luc Lessard. These dedicated individuals worked after school and on weekends countless hours to complete this project.

Come by the Market Mall to view this stunning art!
