    Captain (Capt) Matthew Welsh, Capt Matthew Wookey, Corporal (Cpl) Mirjon Gjoza and Cpl Kyle Hood from 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron (THS) deployed to British Columbia in support of Operation LENTUS in July 2017 during the province’s wildfire relief efforts. On January 19, 2018, the crew of the CH-147F Chinook helicopter from 450 THS were awarded the Joint Task Force Pacific Commander’s Commendation for demonstrating superior judgement and determination in carrying out a MEDEVAC mission in extremely challenging conditions.     Cpl Matthew Marchand (centre), a CH-147F Chinook helicopter maintenance technician at 450 THS, was also deployed to British Columbia in support of Op LENTUS during the summer of 2017. He received Joint Task Force Pacific Commander’s Commendations for demonstrating superior technical knowledge, attention to detail, and determination in identifying potentially compromising  aircraft issues and rectifying them while forward deployed in a remote area of British Columbia. His efforts positively contributed to airworthiness, aircrew safety and the achievement of operational effectiveness in support of British Columbia’s wildfire relief efforts and brings great credit to the Royal Canadian Air Force and Joint Task Force Pacific.
