There is a special bond shared between fathers and daughters, one that will be celebrated during the Ties and Tiara’s Daddy Daughter Ball.

On Feb. 10, the Petawawa Golf Club will turn into a magical ballroom worthy of Cinderella herself and welcome young girls and their fathers for an evening of dancing.

“It’s a chance for dads who work so hard to have a special night out with their little girls,” said Ashley Pardy, Executive Director at the Deep River and District Hospital (DRDH) Foundation.

“Some of the dads are renting limos and going all out,” she added. “It is going to be very sweet.”

The event is a fundraiser for the DRDH Foundation and money raised will go towards the purchase of equipment; in particular, an x-ray machine. Pardy doesn’t have a specific goal but hopes to see it succeed and turn into an annual event.

“Our area has a lot of dads and daughters who would probably think this is a neat idea,” said Pardy. “It is quality time.

“We wanted to create something special that people can look forward to every year,” she added.

The formal event will feature music, photos, games, prizes and candy corsages, and while it’s an opportunity to enjoy a fabulous night out, it will also help bolster the hospital with much-needed equipment. About 35 per cent of the hospital’s clientele are Petawawa residents, said Pardy.

The evening starts at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $50 for the parents, $50 for the first daughter and $30 for each additional daughter. They can be purchased at Kinder Connection Nursery School in Petawawa, the Deep River District Hospital, or Scotia Bank in Deep River. Ticket funds can also be e-transfered and further information about the event can be obtained by emailing Pardy at
