I hope everyone had a great weekend. We had a wonderful turn out for last Friday’s BBQ. This Friday will be a Steak BBQ with all the fixings. Bring the family and enjoy a wonderful evening out.
Still looking for donations for our yard sale fundraiser that will be on July 31st.
Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517 Petawawa President Bob Howell, Expressions of Appreciation for The M 109 Self Propelled Howitzer Monument:
I’d like to take this opportunity to express on behalf of the Executive and the Membership our appreciation for those that contributed to the success of our new monument.
Thank you to our MP Cheryl Gallant, for her help in securing this initially, and to the Home Depot for their donation of posts, chain and post caps to enhance the aesthetics of the Gun area.
Coming through with our dedication plaque with flying colours was 2 Royal Canadian Horse Artillery; without their help there would not have been such a fine display that we have now.
For the Graphic Arts, Cpl MacFarlane completed an excellent display of workmanship that made the Dedication Plaque come in to being.
Thanks also to Clouthier’s Construction for their kind donation, and H & H Construction for their very generous donation of stone surrounding the gun.
There was an anonymous monetary donation of $200 from one source and another of $1,600 from another, both in Memory of the Fallen names that were placed upon the plaque. Thanks to Past President Bob Lescombe, Ken Whitlock and Helene for their moral support even though I know Bob L. wanted a tank. Assistance from the Cenotaph Committee Chair Kelly Williams and Civic Centre staff should not be forgotten, for without them this project would have taken much longer and been more difficult to achieve. Thanks also to Todd’s Compact Tractor for their timely work, much appreciated. Thanks to all.
