The 2016 Law Enforcement Torch Run in Petawawa has provided $671 to the Special Olympics Ontario in Pembroke. This money will be principally used for transportation, bringing athletes to and from various events, tournaments and training opportunities. Money from this event was raised by public donations, a barbecue held by the Knights of Columbus and the Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic School Council during the Torch Run on May 31. Once more, the annual procession culminated at the OLS school yard where the students were eagerly waiting for the athletes and the law enforcement members to arrive. The cheque itself was officially handed over on June 23.
