Sunday, Feb. 25 was once again an exceptional day when it came to the regionally best known Chili Cook-Off competition held at the Petawawa Legion. This year was the third annual competition for the coveted chili trophy.

A big thank you goes out to Kelsey’s Original Roadhouse and CANEX for donating the prizes, and National Grocers for disposable dinnerware.

Praise and a big thank you also goes out to Hyska’s Your Independent Grocer for donating all the bread, baguettes, buns, margarine and butter.

This year’s winner of the Chili Ladle trophy was Gina Minichilli followed by a very close second place of Stephan Neufeld from the Pembroke OPP detachment. Gina’s chili was in such high demand that it was depleted within the first 30 minutes of opening the doors.

Third and fourth place went to Hildegard Badour and Helene Hahn respectively. My personal thanks to you both for competing all three years.

Not appearing in this picture, but deserving honourable mention is scoring umpire Tim Mills, and cashiers Assunta Minichilli and Kimberly Parlee.
