The Petawawa Catholic Womens’ League May 2018 Meeting began with the opening prayer “Something Jesus Said.”

After correspondence, Treasurer’s Report and old business were discussed and approved, the meeting continued on to the new business: the annual June Dinner will be on June 4 and we will be celebrating the Petawawa CWL 80th Anniversary as a League. A catered dinner and entertainment will proceed.

A  fundraising program once again will have raffle tickets on two lovely items donated by several of our members. Tickets will be available from our members.

The following events were organized at the meeting:  Petawawa CWL members will attend the Spring Diocesan Meeting on May 14, in Eganville; the Diocesan Convention is on May 26 at Our Lady of Lourdes, Pembroke.  The Feast day for Our Lady of Good Council is on April 26 and we are sponsoring the daily Mass that day. On May 4 we have the Twelve Hours of Prayer for Palliative Care.

Members and Parishioners are encouraged to sign up for their family photos that will be included in the Pictorial Parish Directory. A CWL member will be available after weekend Masses to take your name and time for your photo.

Our annual Marianhill Birthday Party is organized for May 8 at 1 p.m. We will provide cake, cards and entertainment. Diane is coordinating the event and helpers are Julie, Sheila and Peggy.

Mass and First Communion is June 3 at the 10 a.m. Mass. The CWL will provide  receptions for both Confirmation and First Communion celebrations.

Executive reports were given by Jane who presented a report for Christian Family Life, and Inie who presented a report about the Summer Jobs program for Community Life.
