The opening prayer at our CWL May Meeting was: A prayer to Walk with Mary.

Guest speaker at the meeting was Ruby Pilatzke regarding Juvenile Diabetes. Ruby represents the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Pembroke On. She presented a very informative and educational discussion to members present.

The June Dinner on Monday, June 4 is a catered dinner and tickets are available from the Religious Article Store or Executive CWL members. This year our league will be celebrating an 80 year anniversary as a Council. The theme for the June Dinner will be Remembering the Anniversary Year of 1938, with entertainment and dress (dress accordingly if you so wish, hats would be fun).

Our CWL 80th Anniversary stems from a decision that a group of Petawawa ladies made in 1938, when they formed our present CWL Council. The first President of our league was Valerie Charette. Interestingly, the CWL membership dues at that time were 25 cents.

Raffle tickets will once again be available this summer leading to the Draw at our Christmas Tea and Bazaar. Several lovely items have been donated for our Prizes.

In Older Business:
CWL Members served a cake/refreshments for the Confirmation celebration on Saturday, April 28. They also served cake/snacks and refreshments  for First Communion on Sunday, June 3 at the 10 a.m. Mass.
The Marianhill Birthday Party was Tuesday, May 8; Dianne coordinated the event with cake/cards and Phyllis and Jim Hebert provided entertainment.

On Saturday, May 26, Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Pembroke hosted the Diocesan Convention.
On May 4, members took part in a Twelve Hours of Prayer for Palliative Care.  Various parishes were encouraged to take part.

Members were asked to sign up with families for the Pictorial Parish Directory - the closing date was May 12.

The Closing Prayer at the Meeting, led by Eva, was Hail Mary for all our intentions.

The next Petawawa CWL Meeting will be September 10. Wishing all our CWL members and their families a wonderful and blessed summer.
