Trucker’s Toy Drive: this year marks the 31st edition of the 2 Service Battalion Annual Toy Drive. The toy drive is part of a larger fundraising campaign organized by the Petawawa Legion to help families in need during the holiday season. Drop box can be found in the downstairs lounge until December 15. Your toys and non-perishable food item donations will help brighten the holiday season for less fortunate families.

News from the Silver Threads Seniors Club
The count down to Christmas has begun and shoppers are out and about in the local stores buying up those special items for family and friends. The Seniors Executive and members are making plans for decorating the Club for the festive season. We will be hosting the Legion Band on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 7 pm. This is a nice evening to come out and bring some family members to a concert of Christmas music performed by local artists. You will be surprised at the talent we have in our own back yard. We will be serving refreshments for everyone during and after the concert.

The RCR Guard, RCA Band conclude Public Duties in UK
From Oct. 21 to Nov. 12, a contingent of 80 personnel from The Royal Canadian Regiment (RCR) and 35 members of The Royal Canadian Artillery (RCA) Band assumed Public Duties as the Queen’s Guard in London, United Kingdom (UK).

The annual Garrison Petawawa Business Luncheon on Nov. 8 allowed the community connections and partnerships to deepen while also celebrating the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

Annual NDWCC reaches 2018 goal of $75,000
This year’s National Defence Workplace Charitable Campaign (NDWCC) ended by raising $75,000 for United Way Renfrew County. Garrison Petawawa has asked that most of this money go to the Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC) to help Canadian Armed Forces personnel and their loved ones

Many of us are making plans for Christmas parties and teas and get togethers with friends and family.  This is a good time to get all of the items we require for that nasty winter weather.  We need a blanket, mitts or gloves and hat for the car, along with our scraper.  Be sure and check the battery in the fob for your vehicle and other items that you may need for long drives with the family this winter.
