PETAWAWA – The 2642 3 RCR Army Cadet Corps Sponsorship Support Committee hosted two successful paint party events in support of 2642 3 RCR Army Cadet Corps at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 517 on Saturday, November 4.

“We tried to set the tone for themed events that would mean something to the community. Everyone had smiles on their faces at the end of the day, so I would say it was a success,” said Terri Keller, Chair of the Sponsorship Support Committee.

Pam Cunningham and her team from Party Arts led 37 kids and their parents or guardians through painting a winter sock monkey from 1 to 4 p.m. Later on in the evening, Cunningham proceeded to guide 84 adults in painting a beautiful commemorative scene in honour of Canada’s military members, past and present, and Canada’s 150th Birthday.

The incredible response from the community exceeded expectations with the paint parties raising a combined total of $2,500 on behalf of 2642 3 RCR Army Cadet Corps. Funds raised will assist Cadets with training activities, helping to provide Cadets with continued high level and diverse training activities from biathlon, drill, band, and marksmanship to field exercises and expeditions.

“On Behalf of the Staff and Cadets with 2642 3 RCR RCACC I would like to thank Pam Cunningham and her team for hosting two excellent painting events. It is always great to see all the support from members in our community,” said Captain Destiny Genoe, CO of 2642 3 RCR Army Cadet Corps.

The Sponsorship Support Committee as well as members of 2642 3 RCR Army Cadet Corps would like to thank all the painters, volunteers, and the Petawawa Legion as well as Pam Cunningham and her team for their wonderful support.

They would also like to express their appreciation and acknowledge Canex, Dineamics Food and Drink, Chris and Dave Schreader, Dorothy Genoe, Hyska’s Your Independent Grocer, Nicole Whelan, Pam Cunningham, and Troyes Cinema for their generous contributions of food and prizes.
