Serving CAF personnel had services sped up at major Canadian airports with the expansion of the Canadian Air Transport Security Authority’s (CATSA’s) Trusted Traveller programme.

“Under the newly-expanded Trusted Traveller program, military personnel need only present their military ID card and boarding pass to CATSA screening officers upon entering the Trusted Traveller line,” said Angus Watt former CEO of CATSA.

Under the measures, wearing a uniform is no longer required. Furthermore, when military members travel with non-military people on the same flight, such as family and friends, those co-travelers may also access the Trusted Traveller line.

Trusted travellers receive front-of-the line service at checkpoints across Canada while being screened to regular security standards. Trusted Travellers are also eligible for simpler security screening procedures. Simpler procedures mean that passengers using these lines can keep shoes, belts, and light jackets on; items in pockets; and compliant containers of liquids, aerosols, and gels under 100 ml that fit in a one-litre re-sealable plastic bag inside their carry-on bags.

The Trusted Traveller program is in place at many pre-board screening checkpoints when departing Canadian airports, including Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Regina, Winnipeg, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Québec, Moncton, Halifax, and St. John’s.
