Operation Cleansweep
In Great Anticipation of spring:
It is the responsibility of all residents of Garrison Petawawa that, in anticipation of spring, we get an early start on maintaining our residences. As the snow slowly melts, the garbage left behind by old man winter rears its ugly head. In addition, our furry friends have undeniably left their mark over the winter. It will be to our advantage to get an early start to mitigate unpleasant sights and smells from the months sitting under the snow. It is not just a case of environmental issues, it is a courtesy to our neighbours.
Our residents in the apartments can also get an early start to spring by cleaning up their allotted cages, and to ensure that your waste is ready to put out for collection in an orderly fashion. We can all be part of the solution by being proactive and not to look the other way, or wait for someone to come along and do it for you.
NOTE: To try and mitigate water getting into your homes, the following steps will reduce the possibility of this happening: Keep your window wells clean and remove any snow and ice from them. Ensure the down spouts are free from debris and pointed in a direction that water can run freely away from your residence.
All Residents of Garrison Petawawa can do their part by following these simple steps:
- Ensure that waste is in the correct bin.
- Break down and bundle large cardboard. Particularly TV and moving type boxes.
- Flatten and break down blue bin waste so it fits in the bin.
- Return bins to your residence ASAP after collection.
- Do not put out garbage until the evening before pick up.
- Use only black bags for normal waste. Clear bags will not be picked up.
The garbage or cardboard that has not been picked up by the waste management trucks remains at the road edge until it is collected by paying a contractor. This costs money - our money! Please refer to your Town of Petawawa Collection Schedule for information on recyclable practices or www.ovwrc.com.
Reminder: Bulk item pickup is the week of 27 May 2018. Please do not place bulk items out before Sunday, May 27.
If you have any questions as to what we as residents of the Residential Housing Units are responsible for, please refer to your Occupancy Handbook or the Garrison Administrative Instructions. We all have a responsibility in keeping our environment a clean and safe place to live.
