News from the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club

Where did the summer go? It just seems that the days and weeks have gone by so fast. They say that when you get older, times seems to fly.

Well now here is a bit of news from the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club. The club held its Honours and Awards Dinner at the Silver Threads Seniors Hall. Our new executive for 2018-2019 is: President - Civitan Brian Miner; Vice President - Civitan John VandenBarr; Past President - Civitan Darlene Lambert; Secretary - Civitan Marie F.E. Arnold; Treasurer - Civitan Charles (Chuck) Arnold. Directors: Civitans Donna Forget, Allen Stewart and Joan Ozon.

Civitan John VandenBarr and Civitan Allen Stewart received the Civitan of the Year award.

Civitan Darlene Lambert thanked Civitan Marie Arnold for cooking a lovely meal and she also thanked the Silver Threads President Barbara Bailey for the use of the hall. Civitan Marie Arnold thanked those who helped her set up the hall and helping with the dinner. Civitan President Brian Miner thanked everyone for coming. Civitan Darlene Lambert welcomed Civitan Area Director Cindy Lamorie from Cobden and thanked Governor-Elect Bonnie Tarrant and Pembroke Civitan President Isaac Tarrant for attending our dinner.

On Sunday night we held our Bingo and Civitan Marie Arnold had some special desserts for sale along with hot dogs and popcorn.

At this time I want to thank everyone for their prayers for my hubby Bill Arnold while he was in hospital. He is up and about once again thanks to the doctors’ care. Thanks also to the nurses and doctors for being so kind to me at that time.

Well now it is time for all our Civitan members to get ready for a new year and upcoming events. By the way, we hope to see you all at our Bingo held every Sunday night at the Petawawa Civic Centre. Have a great week and keep smiling.

Thought for the week: Just smile.

That’s all for now and God Bless and Be Happy
