News from the Silver Threads Seniors Club
Hello Everyone! I hope you’re finding ways to stay warm and yet enjoy the winter. If you can’t get outside and exercise, then you are more than welcome to come to the Seniors Club and try out the fitness room or join the fitness classes. We will be having yoga classes twice a week, with one class being held on Thursday mornings at 9:15 a.m. and the other class will be held on Monday evenings at 7 p.m.
You are invited to a Community Meal on Thursday, February 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.; the ladies from the Lutheran Church are busy planning their next menu for your enjoyment. We look forward to welcoming you to the downstairs hall for a delicious supper. No charge or you can give a donation for the local food bank.
February is a month of celebration and we are having a Valentine’s Dinner/Dance on Thursday, February 14. The cost of the dinner/dance is $25 for members and $30 for non- members. The caterer is Schmidt’s and the music is by Bob Landry and Bob Madill. The doors open at 5 p.m. and supper is at 6 p.m. Come out and bring a friend for a great evening and don’t forget your dance shoes.
Don’t forget the regular Bingo on Tuesdays at 1 p.m., with regular games and Jackpot. We always have a 50/50 draw and food. Come out and have a pleasant afternoon with your friends and family.
February is Heart Health Month so be sure to take care and stay active. When you exercise, your cardiovascular system works oxygenated blood to your muscles. Regular exercising also lowers your blood pressure and contributes to lower levels of “bad cholesterol.” Adults should aim for at least two and a half hours of physical activity per week. Use your Fitbit to keep track of how many steps you take per day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, park a little farther away from the mall, and walk a little farther. Walk around the block on these cold days or join a fitness program.
If you like to play cards, we have Bid Euchre on Tuesday evenings at 7 p.m. and Bridge on Mondays at 1p.m. with regular Euchre on Friday evenings at 7 p.m.
The winners of the Friday evening Euchre were: Helen Sack, Bill Stevens, Ellen Baker, Terese Kirkland.
Hopefully, this month we will enjoy some warmer weather and we can get out and walk and snowshoe and ski in the many places available in the community. A big thank you to everyone who does the snow removal for the town as they do a great job.
Enjoy winter and I will see you at the club!
