News from the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club

Well as I promised, I would have bit more news from The Greater Petawawa Civitan Club, here I am! These past two weeks have been busy for all of us. On Saturday, September 21 we held our Honours and Awards dinner at the Silver Threads Seniors Club. The installation of the Executive for 2019-2020 was held at this time also. The Executive and Director for the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club 2019-2020 are: President John VandenBaar, Past President Brian Miner, Vice President Darlene Lambert, Secretary Donna Hammel, Treasurer Charles (Chuck) Arnold, and Directors Donna Forget, Cathy McCabe and Allen Stewart. We wish them all the best in the upcoming year. I really want to thank Civitan Donna Hammel for taking over the Secretary position for me. I have not quit, I have just stepped back at bit. I still have this newsletter and a few other things to do.

As you know we are still trying to raise money for a wheelchair swing at the Civitan Park in Petawawa by the Civic Centre. We still need to raise about $10,000 so I, along with the help from other members of Civitan, will be holding bake sales and raffles. As well, we are asking for donations so we can get this swing so those who are in a wheelchair can enjoy some time at the park with the rest of the family. We still have a bottle at Rona in Petawawa - I want to thank the people at Rona for their support.

If you have attended our Bingo in the past few weeks, you know we have had a raffle for a basket each week with all proceeds going towards the wheelchair swing. We want to thank everyone for their support in this endeavour. By the way our 52 Special also went and there were three winners who each received $668. We had quite a few lucky winners in all the games as well.

We have our Christmas Cakes and we will be selling them soon. You will be able to pick up your cakes at the following places in Petawawa: Canada Post, the Silver Threads Seniors Club and the Esso Gas station next to the post office. We will have them for sale in other places in the next few weeks. We will also have our favourite recipes to make cookies and other special unusual treats for the holidays. I will also have cakes with me where ever I go, so if you see me and want cakes, just ask. I will gladly get them for you. Other members will also get them for you - we are not allowed to go door to door.

Well I hope to see you all once again at our Sunday night Bingo. Remember: when you support the Greater Petawawa Civitan Bingo, you are helping us help those who need assistance. Christmas is coming and there will be a lot who need help, but as I have said so many times, we need your support so we can support others. We from the Greater Petawawa Civitan Club want to say thank you to all those who have supported us over the years. THANK YOU AGAIN!

Just a reminder to all our Bingo players: there will not be a Bingo on Sunday, October 13 as many of our workers will be away with their families for Thanksgiving. We will be back once again October 20. Remember to give thanks for all you have and enjoy your day.

That is all I have for you this week, God bless.

Thought for the week: I am never alone, God is always with me.
