Stepping back in time at Petawawa Heritage Village Settler Festival

It took about three months of construction, but Horst Rohde created an incredibly detailed train set inside the old train station building, a fitting place for such a display. (Photo by Patricia Leboeuf, Petawawa Post)
The Petawawa Heritage Village Settler Festival brought people back in time to see what life would have been like for early pioneers. Held on the Aug. 10 and 11, the event had something for all ages. Not only were all the buildings in the village open to the public, but interpreters explained what life was like back in the 1800’s and early 1900’s. The annual event is always greatly anticipated and is one of the village’s largest activities.

Linda Ticknor is the storekeeper in the village’s newest buildings: the General Store. The festival was the perfect opportunity for people to discover what sort of wares one could buy back in the day.
