News from the Silver Threads Seniors Club

The Saxophonics will be performing on Thursday, September 26 at 1 p.m. We will have refreshments and we will serve dessert for a great afternoon among friends and family. Everyone welcome!

We will be having an Art Show as participants in the local Petawawa Ramble on Saturday, October 19. The business community will be participating in this event, so look for Pumpkin People at the businesses and, of course, there are lots of fun and food available during this weekend of Hallowe’en. Check out the town website for all of the information on this event. We are trying to make this a yearly happening and it will bring in people to see what a great place we choose to live in and raise our families.

We are trying to get a Book Club going at the seniors club , so if you may be interested in being a member, send us an email or give us a call and we will start the process to have a new activity for everyone to enjoy.

We also have a new member and she is willing to come to the seniors and put on a demonstration of a workout called Essentrics. There is no impact on your joints. Everyone can participate in these exercises. It is completely original workout created in Montreal, which draws on the flowing movements of Tai Chi, creating health and balance; the strengthening theories behind ballet which create lean and flexible muscles; and the healing principles of physiotherapy which assist in a pain free body, toning the muscles and strengthening them in lengthened positions. There will be two demonstrations, on September 19 and 26 at 10:30 a.m. Come out and check out this activity.

The winners of the Friday evening Euchre games are: Carol Yahnke, Marie Gordon, Hughuette Clouthier, Kay Saunders, Dale Capp, Richard Bourque, Geraldine Zeeman, Ed Yahnke, Gilda McKay, Bonnie Felhaber.

The Seniors is located at 1163 Victoria Street, Petawawa. The phone number is 613-687-6574 and the email is silverthreadspetawawa@hotmail.ca. We have an elevator, automatic door and air conditioning.

Have fun and be sure and shop locally and support our businesses and keep everyone working. See you at the club!
