One of the arts and crafts was creating mini-birch bark canoes. Norah, 5, threads through the string through the bark with the help of her father Philip Kompass. (Photo by Patricia Leboeuf, Petawawa Post)

Hundreds came out to experience the beauty of the Petawawa Point on Aug. 24. The Get to the Point Beach Festival is in its second year and unlike traditional activities at most festivals, this one had a more grassroots, alternative, holistic feel and included activities such as fire dancing, hula hoop sessions, drumming classes, Stand Up Paddling (SUP), yoga, paint classes, crafting, didgeridoo teachings, vendors, water activities and much more. The free fun started in the late afternoon and continued late into the night.
