Jason Blaine Charity Concert and Golf Tournament Cancelled Amid COVID-19 Pandemic

April 16, 2020 (Pembroke, ON.) The Jason Blaine Charitable Fund committee has announced that Blaine’s annual charity concert and golf tournament has been cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The two-day event had been scheduled for June 16 and 17 at the Pembroke Memorial Centre and Pembroke Golf Club.
“While this is a disappointing decision to make, it is in the best interest of public safety,” says Blaine whose charity has raised more than half-a-million dollars for local causes in the past six years. “Although I was personally very much looking forward to one of our best events yet, especially with so much planning completed and the support that we have received from our sponsors, guest artists and the community, we all understand that it is necessary that we cancel our event, given the government restrictions on public gatherings at this time,” adds Blaine.
The evolving COVID-19 public health crisis has required everyone to adhere to government and public health directives to social distance to stop the spread of the deadly virus. Throughout the world, several large public events have been cancelled because of the virus, including concerts, sports and award ceremonies.
“This is an unprecedented situation that we are living through. At this time, we turn our minds to keeping people safe and offering our thanks to the emergency and essential workers who are helping those inflicted by this terrible virus,” says Blaine.
Blaine has lived in the United States for several years in the Nashville area. Like many recording artists, he has turned to social media to provide some comfort to the masses of people who are staying at home, by sharing his music. Blaine recently released a new single, “Drink Too Much,” as part of a new album scheduled for a digital release in June.
He and his committee are planning to hold his annual charity event in Pembroke again in 2021 and are thankful for the tremendous support they have had from the business community and local residents. Last year, the charity raised a remarkable $125,000, funds provided to several local organizations that support vulnerable populations in Renfrew County.
