In response to the United Nations’ request for transport of COVID-19 related humanitarian and medical supplies, on behalf of the World Food Programme and the World Health Organization, the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) provided a CC-177 Globemaster and associated crew to provide airlift support out of Panama Pacifico Airport in Guatemala City, Guatemala between July 21 and August 3.
CAF members worked alongside members of the Honduras Air Force as they delivered a cargo of supplies to Toncontín International Airport in Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Op GLOBE is part of the CAF’s commitment to active engagement abroad. These deployments give CAF members the opportunity to work alongside personnel from other government departments, as well as other nations.
