Those wanting family fun before the official midnight countdown on New Year’s Eve could go to the Petawawa Civic Centre to ring in 2020. As always the town put on an event for kids of all ages and their families on Dec. 31 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. The free event let the kids have a blast while giving the adults enough time to head off to their own party later on in the evening. Skating was a highlight; skaters were accompanied by live music by Adam Fieldhouse. Upstairs the party was hopping with a family-friendly dance and at night’s end, a cascade of balloons simulated the traditional midnight countdown. Visitors could also enjoy balloon twisting by Mr Dimples, magic performances by Nathaniel Rankin, inflatables, games, face painting and more
