News from the Silver Threads Seniors Club
It’s that time once again when we need some fun in our lives to get us through the cold, snowy days of winter. Next week the club will be having a Bridge Tournament on January 20 at 1 p.m. Food and refreshments will be available to the card players.
On Tuesday evening at 7 p.m., the Bid Euchre players will be having their tournament, so come out and enjoy some good company, food and refreshments and cards.
The Chili/Soup Luncheon will be held on January 23 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.; we will have an assortment of chili and soup, along with buns, tea and coffee and dessert for only $10. Bring a friend or neighbour and come for lunch. We look forward to seeing you and if you would like to volunteer for the door, kitchen, serving and clean up, we sure would love to have you come out.
Pick up a schedule of events for Cabin Fever at the Civic Centre or look at the schedule in the Petawawa Post. There is something for everyone this winter to take you out of the house for some fun and maybe meet some new people in the community.
A reminder that we will be having a Meditation Session in the downstairs hall on January 23 at 1 p.m. We have yoga mats or you can bring your own mat. This session is being led by Kyla Romain.
On January 24 at 11 a.m., we have an information session on Cannabis. If you have any questions or would like to have some information on this subject, then come out to this morning session.
We will be holding a Seniors Active Fair on March 5 from 1 to 4 p.m., and there will be many agencies from the community to provide information on the services available to seniors. We will have giveaways and food and refreshments will be available to everyone. This is a joint project between the Older Adult Centres Association of Ontario and the Ministry for Seniors and Accessibility.

Pick up a copy of Health Matters, this is a free health magazine that has excellent articles on health and tax tips, local experts, and many businesses and services in our community.

Bring in a donation for the food bank and place it in the box provided and your stamped grocery receipts from the local Hyska’s Your Independent Grocer and place it in the boxes provided upstairs and downstairs.
Enjoy the winter, take a picture with the big chair on the Boulevard and enjoy the trails, snowshoeing, snowmobiling and other winter activities. See you at the club!
