Community Safety plan to be created for town and county
The Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Detachment area will create a Community Safety and Well-Being Plan (CSWBP) for Renfrew County.
The Town of Petawawa has agreed to commit up to $15,000 during the upcoming year. This plan would cover the entire county, but could then be easily individualized with the addition of a small appendix with details specific to the municipality.
According to the Police Services Act, every municipality in Ontario must adopt a CSWBP by 2021.
OPP remains on Petawawa Boulevard
The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) will remain at 1913 Petawawa Blvd for at least another five years.
The town has extended their lease until Jan 31, 2025. At that point, another lease will be negotiated.
The annual lease for this extension is estimated at $131,025.60 for this 6,066 square foot building.
