6th annual Free Shawarma Day at Madameek

Madameek Restaurant in Petawawa has been hosting its annual Free Shawarma Day for six consecutive years. This year, it was held on Dec. 11 and lines were out the door and around the building as people waited for their lunchtime treat. This tradition arose to thank customers for their loyalty as well as to pay tribute to fallen Trooper Marc Diab and all other Canadian Armed Forces members who have lost their lives. This day has become a highly anticipated one, and despite the hectic pace, people on both sides of the counter were all smiles.
