Parkwood Place Executive Apartments in Petawawa now available for rent

The Parkwood Place Executive Apartments are officially available for rent.

The occasion was marked on June 25 by a ribbon-cutting with members of Petawawa council and the building’s builders standing before the luxury apartments on Highland Park Drive.

“This is a great day for the Town of Petawawa,” said Mayor Bob Sweet at the opening ceremony. “There were some bumps along the way, but nonetheless, here we are.”

Having a new apartment building in the town will allow for more people to reside within its borders - a necessity for transient Canadian Armed Forces members who are posted in and out of the region.

Sweet pointed out this will help with some of the demand for housing.

“I get the statistics every month from the real estate board, and in the County of Renfrew, there are only 300 homes available of all sizes and types,” he said, “... so opening a facility that has almost 40 units, it’s is extremely important to have that type of facility.”

A partnership was required to bring the large project to fruition, and celebrating the finalization were Lisa Lance, Darryl Lance, Todd Clouthier and Brad Clouthier, who attended the opening day with their friends and family.

During the speeches, Sweet credited the Clouthier Family in particular for bringing the project to Petawawa, and also for their help in bringing other facilities to the town.

Many of the apartments are already spoken for, but there is still room for more occupants.

The building is three storeys with large corridors and a modern, sleek feel. The 39 units are split into 15 different styles of layouts with footage ranging from 558 sq ft to 1,159 sq ft units. All units come with a stacked washer and dryer so tenants need not worry about going to the laundromat.

Eight of these units are specifically designed to be accessible while the others can be altered with relative ease.

Prices for the luxury apartments range from $1,350 to $1,900.
