A flood of Pumpkin People is about to descend on Petawawa.
This Petawawa Ramble and Pumpkin People Festival is in its second inauguration and will be held from Oct. 15 to 18. Though the activities look different compared to last year due to physical distancing regulations, it remains an great opportunity to take in the autumnal beauty of the community as well as enjoy local flavours and activities.
The three day event will feature a photo scavenger hunt, a self-guided pumpkin people display tour, a game of Ultimate Werewolf, a live concert and beer festival as well as activities and contests at several local businesses. New this year is the residential pumpkin displays. Though not on the official map, people are encouraged to explore their neighbourhoods for whimsical pumpkin people.
There is also an occasion to tickle your tastebuds with a BBQ event courtesy of Burnt Bridge Quality Meats on Oct. 16, Pork on a Bun at Hyska's Your Independent Grocer, and a sampling of sauces at J &E’s Bored N'Saucy on Oct. 17.
"This year, more than 50 businesses and community groups will prepare displays to welcome our residents and their families to enjoy our collective hospitality while partaking in some wonderful events," said Petawawa Mayor Bob Sweet.
He urged residents to stay vigilant about COVID-19 restrictions and not put themselves or others at risk. He also reminded people that the pumpkin displays are static and not to be interacted with as some are quite fragile.
"Thank you for rambling safely with us," said Sweet.
