PSP Campers create for Natasha’s Wood Foundation Art Contest

The kids attending this year’s PSP Petawawa Community Recreation Summer Camp may see their artwork published in a book: Natasha’s Wood: A Pollen Fairy Named Squirt. The kids were asked to draw the titular character during the Aug. 4 fun, fairy-themed activity. These pictures will be sent to the Natasha’s Wood Foundation as part of a contest. The competition will be fierce as this project is part of a CFMWS National Activity, with kids from all over Canada sending in their artwork in the hopes of seeing it published. The Petawawa campers were also invited to decorate birdhouses and flowerpots as part of the day’s fun. These were on display in a fairy garden in front of the Petawawa Recreation Complex for a few hours. A similar display was set up at the South Side Community Centre. The Natasha’s Wood Foundation was created to harness the power of story-telling, the arts, education and sports to generate awareness of and unconditional support for the mental wellness of children in First Responder families, Veterans and serving Canadian Armed Forces families.
