Garrison Petawawa - On Thursday, June 23rd, tens of thousands of kids and adults at aquatic facilities around the world will unite for the 13th year in a row to spread the word Swimming Lessons Save Lives™. A global event, The World’s Largest Swim Lesson™ (WLSL), will be taking place over the course of 24 hours at hundreds of aquatic centers, swim schools and waterparks.

Recent studies show that TEAM WLSL™ continues to make a difference. According to the American Red Cross, we’ve seen an increase in children’s water competency and in the overall number of people taking swimming lessons. But there’s more work to be done. Research still shows that drowning is a leading cause of unintended death for Canadian children. And, drowning is the third leading cause of unintentional injury-related death throughout the rest of the world. This issue is truly a matter of life and death for kids and families in every community around the world.

Community Recreation Aquatics at Garrison Petawawa will be serving as an official Host Location for the WLSL 2022 event.

The event comprises of multiple FREE one-time thirty minute swim lessons to help raise awareness around water safety. The event will take place between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Dundonald Hall Fitness, Sports and Aquatics Centre.

Members of the community are invited to save their spot and register to this phenomenal event!
